Open Water Swimming

We’re spoiled for choice when it comes to great places to have a swim in the sea here on Argyll’s Secret Coast. Each spot has its own unique character, so you’re guaranteed a different swimming experience every time.

Whilst the the water temperature could never be described as toasty, the sea gently warms up over the summer months, reaching its peak in September. Okay, so the water will still be as likely as the stunning views to take your breath away, but that’s all part of the fun!

So pick your spot, pack a blanket, a flask of tea and maybe a wetsuit, and take the plunge! If swimming in the seas of Scotland doesn’t appeal to you, then the outdoor infinity pool at Portavadie is a great option. You’ll get the fresh sea air and coastal views, with the added bonus of heated water!

Before you take the plunge though, it’s important that you stay safe when swimming in the sea.

Stay within your abilities and check out this safety advice to make sure you keep out of harms way whilst making the most of our clear, clean waters.
