Coll and Tiree’s beaches, meadows, moors and machair provide a home for a wealth of flora and fauna. Much of western Coll in an RSPB reserve, and a vast variety of birds can be spotted, including the corncrake, one of Britain’s rarest birds.
The waters around Coll and Tiree are prime cetacean-spotting territory, and and dolphins, porpoises, minke whales, seals, basking sharks and even the occasional orca can be seen. Coll is one of the best places in Scotland to watch the night sky.
