Kilmory Knap Chapel and Beach
The chapel of St Mary at Kilmory Knap is on the east side of Loch Sween. It's a beautiful spot, with clear views across to the islands of Islay and Jura. The chapel was built in the first half of the 13th century and now houses a collection of early and late medieval gravestones and cross-slabs which used to be in the church and graveyard. To get there, from Bellanoch head south on to the B8025 taking a left fork to Achnamara. Follow the road along Loch Sween, past Castle Sween. As you enter Kilmory Knap, you'll see the church on your right. There's parking near the road.
From the chapel, follow the path down to the white sands of Kilmory Beach. Relax and unwind on the beach, swim in the crystal clear waters and enjoy views out across the Sound of Jura. This wild and remote beach really is a one of Argyll's best-kept secrets.
