Follow your nose along the most famous road in the history of malt whisky and eventually you’ll arrive at Ardbeg. Located on the rugged shoreline at the southern end of Islay, it’s a fantastic place to visit and there’s a range of tours available. Ardbeg is internationally renowned for its peaty whisky. Using malted barley sourced from the maltings at Port Ellen, Ardbeg claims to produce the peatiest whisky in Islay. It’s picked up accolades in recent years from Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible and at international spirit ratings competitions. You can taste a dram or two in the excellent visitor centre. The Old Kiln Café is also open from Monday to Friday and serves great food. The shop offers a selection of Ardberg whiskies and other local products
