Hiking and biking

From walking beaches to road cycling around the peninsula, Kintyre and the Isle of Gigha has something for everyone.

Kintyre is a fantastic place to explore on foot or by bike, with miles of coastline, ancient forests and fantastic trails and paths. Stretching from Tarbert in the north to Machrihanish in the south, the Kintyre Way is one of Scotland’s top long distance routes.

Gigha is another great place for walking, with 12 designated off-road walks. There’s plenty of action for both mountain bikers and road cyclists. The Caledonia Way, National Route 78 of the National Cycle Network, runs from Campbeltown up to Inverness, while the forest trails above Campbeltown are ideal for experiencing the exhilaration of mountain biking.
