Hiking and biking
Kintyre is a fantastic place to explore on foot or by bike, with miles of coastline, ancient forests and fantastic trails and paths. Stretching from Tarbert in the north to Machrihanish in the south, the Kintyre Way is one of Scotland’s top long distance routes. The 100-mile route is broken down into seven sections.
Gigha is another great place for walking, with 12 designated off-road walks. There’s plenty of action for both mountain bikers and road cyclists. The Caledonia Way, National Route 78 of the National Cycle Network, runs from Campbeltown up to Inverness, while the hills outside Campbeltown offer fantastic off-road riding.
