Kintyre is a bird watching paradise. Whether you take shelter from the elements at the Machrihanish Bird Observatory or wander the Kintyre Way across the hills, there is plenty to see.
The ultimate bird of prey is of course the Golden Eagle! In Kintyre you have a much higher chance of seeing these beautiful birds, especially in the south of the peninsular.
A rare tern colony can be found at Rhunahaorine Point, just beyond Point Sands Holiday Park, Tayinloan. Please check with the holiday park for access.
Kintyre Sea Tours is also a good way to view more birds, details for the Tourist Information office in Campbeltown.
