The islands of Mull and Iona offer wonderful wildlife watching opportunities. Mull is known as ‘eagle island’, and you have a good chance of spotting both golden and white-tailed eagles on a visit to the island. The Atlantic waters around Mull and Iona offer brilliant whale-watching opportunities.
Iona’s coastline, fields, moorland and bogs are home to a huge variety of wildlife. In the summer listen out for the rasps of corncrakes in the hayfield. And as for the flora! Iona is a haven for wild flowers, from wild iris and harebells in spring to orchids and heather in summer.
