Slate Islands Heritage Trust

Contact details

The Slate Islands Heritage Centre is on Seil, a small island separated from the mainland only by the thinnest of sea channels which is spanned by Clachan Bridge, popularly known as the 'Bridge over the Atlantic'.

The island's main village, Ellenabeich, comprises neat white terraces of workers cottages, one of which houses the heritage centre. In here you'll find photographs, artefacts and genealogical records related to the social and industrial life of the Slate Islands, particularly the people engaged in the former slate industry.
