Whisky Galore

This play is an adaptation of the novel by Compton MacKenzie, made famous by the 1949 Ealing comedy. It tells the story of life on two Hebridean islands suffering a lack of whisky during the second world war and of a ship which runs aground heading for America with a cargo of 50,000 cases. The whisky affects the love lives of certain of the islands inhabitants and sets up a game of cat and mouse between the wily islanders and the local home guard captain and excisemen.
