Public Talk Professor Kevin McGarry
Come and hear from professional photographer Kevin McGarry as he takes us on a journey across continents! He'll be showing his favourite images and sharing some of the vast knowledge accumulated across more than 33 years of experience producing long-form photographic work which spans landscape, portraiture, and documentary practice.
His work explores themes of place, identity, and the psychological space between people and their environments, and he will be running a 4 week photography course at The Rockfield Arts Centre, Oban.
Alongside his professional career, McGarry has maintained a distinguished academic practice, teaching photography and visual studies for over 30 years at institutions including Cambridge University, Oxford University, and the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. His teaching emphasises critical engagement, visual literacy, and sustained photographic inquiry.
