Poverty Alliance – Taking Action on Rural Poverty

This is the national launch and exhibition of Taking Action on Rural Poverty – a visual project undertaken by the Poverty Alliance’s (PA) Citizens’ Panel. Members of the panel are drawn from across Aberdeenshire and Argyll and Bute, highlighting both the challenges and strengths of rural communities and how people’s lived experience can guide positive change. The exhibition is a socio-economic exploration told in their own words and images, and is the culmination of two years of consideration, contemplation and research, underpinned by shared dialogue and individual reflections of lived experience in some of the country’s more remote areas. The Poverty Alliance is the national anti-poverty network in Scotland. They are a membership organisation made up of civil society organisations from across Scotland including grassroots community and voluntary organisations, national organisations, campaign groups, trades unions, faith groups, university and colleges and research organisations. Public bodies, statutory organisations and commercial organisations are part of their network as associate members. Their vision is a Scotland free of poverty, with social, economic, environmental justice for all, where everyone can flourish and is treated with dignity. Their purpose is to support the prevention and reduction of poverty by building a strong network of organisations and people to influence policy and change practice. Entry to our exhibitions is free but it does cost us money to bring them to Dunoon Hall. We would appreciate any donations to help us keep providing our exhibition program in the future.
