Looking for the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation and time together? Our Coastal Wellness Weekend itineraries are designed for couples who want to reconnect while exploring Scotland’s stunning west coast. These self-drive itineraries combine coastal scenery, outdoor activities and unique wellness experiences, with options to adapt using public transport.

Oban, known as the “Seafood Capital of Scotland” and gateway to the Inner Hebrides, is the perfect base for a romantic wellness weekend – no matter your definition of wellness. Surrounded by sea lochs, islands, and rugged hills, this bustling harbour town offers the best of both worlds: lively waterfront life and easy access to tranquil escapes. Stay centrally in Oban for atmosphere and dining, or retreat to the remote luxury of WildLuing or Inverlonan, where you can unplug and reconnect with nature and one another.

This itinerary is focused on Oban and the surrounding areas. Make sure to explore our other wellness itineraries as well!

A Coastal Reset

Day 1 – Arrive in Oban

Arrive in Oban and take time to soak up the harbour views, with ferries gliding in and out and fishing boats landing their catch. For a central stay, check into the Royal Oban or the charming Barriemore Guesthouse overlooking the bay. If you’re seeking a more remote kind of romance, Inverlonan, WildLuing and Kniploch Hotel are fantastic options.

In the afternoon, ease into your weekend with a sauna session provided by Wild Bathing, located either at the Tralee Trailer Park or on the Isle of Seil. You can either book a seat in the sauna or book a fully private sauna experience! It’s the ideal way to shed the week’s stresses and embrace the slower rhythm of your weekend. In the evening, dine on freshly landed seafood in Oban from informal fish & chips to fine dining at coastal restaurants. Afterwards, pop by Markie Dans for a drink and potentially even a wee dance!

Head Out on the Water

Day 2 – Experience our Coastline

Today, immerse yourself in the marine landscape that makes Oban so special. Join Basking Shark Scotland for a guided snorkelling day trip, where you’ll explore kelp forests, encounter curious seals, and marvel at the underwater life of Scotland’s west coast. If you’d rather stay above the waves, choose a boat trip with one of the many providers departing from Oban or join West Coast Tours ‘Three Isle Tour’, visiting Mull, Iona and Staffa.

On your return, settle into a relaxed evening. For those staying in Oban, the town’s waterfront bars and bistros buzz with atmosphere. If you’re staying a bit further afield, light the wood burner, pour a glass of wine, and enjoy a romantic evening away from the crowds.

Explore Kerrera or Lismore

Day 3 – Stretch Your Legs

Spend your final day stretching your legs on one of Oban’s nearby islands. Take the short ferry to Kerrera, where the coastal loop walk leads past clifftops, castle ruins, and sweeping views back towards the mainland. Grab a lunch at Kerrera Tea Gardens and soak in the stunning coastal views. Alternatively, head to Lismore for an adventurous 4x4 jeep tour with Explore Lismore.

After your island walk, return to Oban for a final stroll along the seafront or up to McCaig’s Tower before beginning your journey home.
