Our skipper has guided many guests on land-based whisky tours, given evening talks and conducted tastings, so you could say he knows a thing or two about malt whisky. During this 6-night Island Malt Whisky Tour, we will get the chance to visit and sample some fine classics, departing from Oban, which is famous for having its distillery right in the centre.
We go on to sail and anchor around the islands of Islay, Jura, and Mull, some of which have been argued to be the best malt whisky region in Scotland, if not the world. The distilleries that can be visited are Oban, Tobermory, Ardnamurchan, the Islay classics of Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Caol-lla and Bunnahabhain. Also, one of the skipper's current favourites is Jura.
While this is a whisky cruise, it's not all about the “water of Life”. We get the chance to sail to some stunning locations and enjoy wonderful, fresh local produce, from hand-dived scallops to mussels and just-caught langoustines to locally sourced venison and lamb. Suppose Whisky is not your thing, we do stock and enjoy some of the fantastic new Scottish gins on offer from Oban, Islay, Jura, Harris, Barra and even infused Rum from the Isle of Rum.
No two trips are the same, and we take pleasure in consulting with our guests to create a suitable plan using the skipper’s extensive local knowledge, based on the weather, tides, guests’ desires, and other factors.
