Argyll & the Isles Produce To Try

Our small, local producers work closely with the land and sea to produce top-notch food that is as fresh as it gets, prepared with love in our fabulous West Coast eateries. Here are some of the must-try produce whilst exploring Argyll & the Isles:

  • Seafood: Argyll's Atlantic waters and sea lochs are home to some of Scotland's best seafood. Enjoy oysters with sweeping views over Loch Fyne or sample langoustines, scallops, mussels, and smoked salmon freshly landed each day in Oban, Scotland’s Seafood Capital.
  • Smokehouses: While our smokeries are probably best known for their salmon, they also produce Loch Fyne kippers, trout, seafood, meat, game, cheese, pates, and even trout and lumpfish caviars.
  • Meat & Game: From delicious Adfern Black Pudding to the finest venison from the Winston Churchill Venison Company, pick up some superior quality meat to try at home.
  • Cheese & Dairy: Sample some of our artisan ice creams, such as Highland Fold Ice Cream or Wee Island Dairy. Or try some local cheese, whether it’s hard or soft, from cows or goats, served on a hearty slab of crusty bread or a handmade oatcake; it tastes wonderful!
  • Pickles & Chutneys: Need a little something to pair with your cheese? Try a seaweed chutney from the Isle of Mull or one of the main delicious Fyne Preserves, often featuring local ingredients from the maker's garden.
  • Spirits, Beer & Coffee: Tour one of Argyll's many distilleries, sample microbrews like Fyne Ales, and sip artisanal blends from Argyll Coffee Roasters.
