Rosneath is a peaceful village on the eastern shore of the Rosneath Peninsula, near Helensburgh.

Rosneath Castle Park serves as the peninsula's premier attraction and activity hub. The park features the Castle Isle Bar & Restaurant serving a range of tasty dishes and drinks. The extensive grounds provide ample space for relaxation, with playparks, walking trails, and direct lochside access.

The peninsula's compact size makes it the perfect place to explore on the back of our bikes. Cycle to nearby Kilcreggan to see the iconic Victorian Pier, or head to the Peaton Hill Conservation Reserve for a scenic walk.

Rosneath is in an ideal location to explore some of Argyll's most iconic destinations, attractions and locations. Head to Loch Lomond, Dunoon or Helensburgh for the day, before returning to your quaint accommodation overlooking Gare Loch.

Things to do near Rosneath include:

  • Kilcreggan: Enjoy walks, quiet cycling roads, rocky shores and open sea views and the ferry to Gourock from a historic pier.
  • Cardross: Explore the charming village and its castle ruins, dating back to 1329, where King Robert the Bruce is believed to have died.
  • Arrochar Alps: The villages of Tarbet and Arrochar are within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, at the gateway to the Argyll Forest Park, and at the foot of the Arrochar Alps.

How to get to Rosneath

Planning Your Visit
By Car

Follow the A814 from Helensburgh north along the eastern shore of Gare Loch. From Glasgow, the journey takes approximately 1 hour via the A82 to Helensburgh, then the A814 north. The scenic route offers water views throughout, with the Arrochar Alps providing dramatic mountain scenery. From Garelochhead at the peninsula's north, the B833 winds south through Rosneath to Kilcreggan.

By Public Transport

Regular services from Glasgow Central Station reach Helensburgh Central in under an hour. From Helensburgh station, the local bus provides an onward connection to Rosneath. This combination offers car-free access, though journey times are longer than driving.
