St Blane's Church
The location is delightful; the church sits nestled in a glen at the southern end of Bute with wonderful views to Arran and the Holy Isle. The remains include the nave and part of the chancel dating back to the 1200s. The churchyards contain a number of fascintaing weathered grave slabs. Look out for the enclosure wall. The enclosure wall. It's over 1,400 years old and marks the boundary between the secular world and the spiritual. To reach the church, follow a signposted track that leads from a parking area at the end of a public road two miles south of Kingarth.
