Highlights to plan into your trip

Leave the mainland behind and sail across to Gigha — just a short CalMac ferry from Tayinloan. You will fall in love with this gem of an island.

  • Explore Achamore Gardens – Wander through peaceful paths bursting with colour, where kids can play hide-and-seek among rhododendrons, bamboo, and towering trees.
  • Walk or ride easy family cycle routes – Bring or hire bikes and ride Gigha’s gentle trails, past sea views, standing stones, and curious highland cows.
  • Build castles on Twin Beaches & Ardminish Beach – Paddle, picnic, and build sandcastles on the island’s beaches  — perfect for a relaxing family day out.
  • Step back in time - Wander Gigha's standing stones and visit the ancient and derelict church, Kilchatten Chapel, to get a feel for Gigha of old.
  • Try a Kayak Adventure – Book a session with Gigha Boats and explore the clear waters as a family – you might even spot seals!
  • Fill hungry kids - Taste the island at its eateries with homemade ice cream at the Wee Isle Café or local produce at The Nook Takeaway
  • Stargazing by the Sea – End your day with hot chocolates and a blanket under the stars at the island’s Dark Sky Theatre.

🛏️ Overnight Tip: Stay in one of Gigha’s welcoming guesthouses, or book a family pod at Achamore Lodge for a cosy, nature-filled night. Looking for something different? Try The Yurt Experience!
