Ballivicar is a small family farm running fine North Country Cheviot sheep, free range chickens and a variety of ponies, mainly highland ponies who are available for treks on the one of Islays' many beautiful beaches.
We are close to Port Ellen ferry terminal, and the Islay Airport and the islands renowned golf course (Machrie) and three of the islands world famous distilleries (Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg).
Our farm is something of a haven for wildlife, from deer both red and roe to hen harriers, barn owls, peregrines, many buzzards and all manor of other smaller birds and mammals.
As a farm it has a long history featuring by name in the earliest surviving Gaelic charter. The main house and part of the steading in which the cottages are located is 18th century and earlier.
All our self catering cottages have wifi, tv, dvd player, washing machines, full central heating, electric showers and all linen is provided as well as all the normal kitchen equipment e.t.c.
The Chougherie is a two bedroomed cottage, with a king size double and a twin bedded room, as well as a large open plan kitchen/living room and a bathroom
The Hayloft is a one bedroom cottage with a twin bedded room and en-suite bathroom and a large open plan kitchen/living room and small porch as well as a freezer.
The Bothy, which is in between the other two is a smaller one bedroomed cottage again with twin bed and en-suite bathroom and open plan kitchen/ living area
