Feeling festive on Argyll's Secret Coast

Argyll’s Secret Coast is a great place to spend Christmas. Whether you’re looking for Christmas shopping with a difference or a festive break with your family, you’ll find plenty of seasonal cheer on offer. Here’s what’s happening this festive season on Argyll’s Secret Coast. 

Get crafty 
Join Michaela Goan of Sea Tree Pottery and florist Pauline Livingstone at Portavadie’s Craft Your Christmas event on Friday 24th November. In this full-day workshop, you’ll make Christmas ceramics and a festive wreath to take home with you. Tickets are £70 and include all materials, lunch and a glass of festive fizz. 

Festive markets 
Head to Colintraive Village Hall for the Colintraive Festive Fair on Saturday 17th November. Expect mulled cider, mince pies and stalls selling local produce, crafts and more.

Saturday 1st December is festive market day! Pop along to the Kames Hall for the Kames Christmas Market (10am to 1pm). Organised by the Kyles Allotment Group, this will be a bumper market with stalls groaning with festive goodies, gorgeous crafts and gifts, breads, local produce, jams and more. There’s also a pop-up café serving up mulled wine. Then head over to Portavadie for the Portavadie Festive Fayre(Midday to 4pm). Again there will be local crafts, gifts and jewellery on offer, as well as home baking. 

For even more festive market fun, hop of the ferry from Colintraive to Bute to visit the Mount Stuart Christmas Fair on Sunday 2nd December. Held in the beautiful Marble Hall, there will be stalls, festive entertainment, Santa's grotto, delicous food and more. 

And last but not least, it’s the Kilfinan Christmas Fayre on Sunday 9th December. Again there will be a fantastic selection of local produce and gifts. 

Christmas shopping 
If you’re looking for a really special gift, try Tig Gallery. As well as art, you’ll find a lovely collection of collection of design-led jewellery, sculpture, textiles, glass and ceramics. You’ll also find some beautiful ceramics and textiles at The Dairy Gallery at Carry Farm. And don’t forget you can pick up seasonal treats, including a fine selection of wine, local ales and whiskies, at Kames Village Store. Portavadie’s shop has lots of great gift ideas too. 

Festive dining 
Gather friends and family for a pre-Christmas get together and tuck into some festive fare. Many of the hotels and restaurants, including The Royal an Lochan and Kames Hotel, are offering a seasonal festive menu.
